The Brooklyn Nets Go Old School

The Brooklyn Nets have come up with a pretty novel form of sponsored content for a good cause.

In this Funny Or Die sponsored video,”The New Nets” features several Nets, including stars Deron Williams and Paul Pierce, sporting 1970s throwbacks like short shorts, Converse Chuck Taylors, and of course, the Afro. It’s a funny spoof piece of sponsored content, but you’ll notice that the entire set up is to get you to click on the “For More Information” link, which lands on the New York Collaborates for Autism homepage. Neat trick, huh?

The video also has a few slides at the end explaining that “The New Nets” is presented by the NYCA, along with Deron Williams’s own Point of Hope foundation for children in need.

So far, the video has garnered more than 120,000 views since being posted on Funny Or Die a few days ago. In that respect, the post seems to be doing its job.
