Steve Jobs Exits: Since Apple announced Steve Jobs has resigned as CEO, there has been a torrent of stories about what this means for Apple. The long and the short of it: not much in the short term. The product pipeline is full. But any company with an iconic founder, particularly Apple, is sure to be different after the founder leaves. Many have celebrated the Jobs legacy. The WSJ has a great compilation of his best quotes. He probably summed it up best in his famous 2005 commencement address to Stanford, where he implored graduates to “stay hungry, stay foolish.”Twitter Founders’ Next Act: Twitter founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone have settled on their first project with their new company, Obvious. They’re backing Lift, an app for “unlocking human potential through positive reinforcement.” Not much more in the way of detail is available about the startup.Best Roommate Ever Goes Big: His hilarious Craiglist posting to find a roommate in San Francisco has made Wade Cothran something of an overnight Internet celebrity. The often-profane posting, which begins “konichiwa, bitches,” is a must-read. It’s bounced all over the Web the last few days. Cothran, who is himself in marketing, is going with it, setting up a Facebook page and Twitter account to milk his 15 minutes of fame. He’s even drawn the attention of Ashton Kutcher.
Garyvee Hangs it Up: One of the most successful video bloggers is calling it quits. Gary Vaynerchuk, through force of his own personality, hustle and enthusiasm, used his weekly wine video show as a springboard into books and a marketing firm. He’s decided the time is right, after five and half years, to stop his Web show, Wine Library TV. Vaynerchuk is a patron saint of the personal brand movement, but his success probably owes more to his incredible drive. Anyone who has met him can attest that he has an incredible amount of energy and passion. It’s unsurprising he decided to quit when he felt less of that for his Web video efforts. Vaynerchuk says he’ll concentrate on his many entrepreneurial efforts, which he hopes someday will culminate in owning the New York Jets. Dare to dream, Gary.
