Experiment gives hip brands uncool logos

There’s already been a hipster logo generator, hipster logo guidelines, hipster NFL logos and corporate logos redone as hipster logos. We get it: It’s cool to be hip. But a group of agency creatives at Cornett is all about making it hip to be square.

Rather than giving something the hipster branding touch, a group of nine Cornett creatives decided to do the opposite and give hipster brands a corporate touch. For a side project, the group gave 19 brands that hipsters appreciate — including Warby Parker, Dollar Shave Club, Brooklyn Brewery, Vice and Ace Hotel — a decidedly uncool logo makeover.

“Corporate logos tend to feel a little more polished, bold, bright, strong,” said Whit Hiler, a Cornett creative.

Notice Urban Outfitters stayed the same — because, as Hiler explained in his blog post about the project, “Get it? They’re a corporate hipster brand, haha.”

This isn’t the first time Cornett staffer has taken time to create fun projects. Cornett creatives were behind a #sharethelex campaign to increase tourism to Kentucky, an awesomely gross infographic relating agency life to horror movie “The Human Centipede” and a fake ninja bar.
