Ellen Digital Network and Condé Nast Entertainment lead the Digiday Video Awards finalists

Ellen Digital Network and Condé Nast Entertainment lead the pack of 2019 Digiday Video Awards finalists with four and three nominations, respectively.

EDN launched in partnership with Warner Bros. Television Group in 2016, effectively combining the existing digital assets that comedian Ellen Degeneres and her team had established with Ellen Digital Ventures (EDV) since 2014. The network, which is shortlisted for Best Video Distribution Platform, Best Video Advertising Agency or Partner, Digital Studio of the Year and Best Brand Film – Series — this year’s most entered category — racks up over 1 billion views per month and has recently teamed up with supermodel Ashley Graham and Food Network Chef Ayesha Curry.

Also looking to score the first-ever neon trophy for Digital Studio of the Year, which will honor the digital studio or production company that has best-displayed excellence through noteworthy production, monetization and distribution execution, are Complex Networks, CNN’s Courageous Studios, UK-based Jungle Creations, Vox Creative and FBE.

As the creative force behind legacy Condé Nast brands like Vogue, CNE is responsible for programming for new media offerings by Snapchat, Facebook, YouTube and more – they’ve produced “73 Questions” for Vogue and the uber-popular “True Crime/Uncovered” Snapchat series, which was sponsored by Oxygen Network. The studio and distribution network produces over 5,000 videos annually for over 20 brands ranging from Bon Appétit to GQ to Vanity Fair and is now up for Best Use of YouTube, Best Snapchat Show and Best Publisher Pivot to TV.

Like CNE, much of the work that appears on this year’s shortlist is the result of keeping legacy with the times, deviating from the norm and adjusting to withstand turbulent times. When asked how this year’s programs differ from years prior, Sahil Patel, media editor at Digiday said “This year’s Digiday Video Awards reflect an industry that has undergone a massive shift — and expansion — over the past year. Video itself can mean so many different things these days, and we want to highlight and reward the great work being done across this increasingly broad and diverse industry.” You can view the full list of those who have stayed the course and continued to push boundaries over the past year below.

We’ll announce the winners at the Digiday Video Awards Gala on March 7 at Tribeca 360° in New York City. Tickets are available for purchase here.
